It’s one of the biggest markets on the internet, with commercial and advertisements everywhere.

Weight loss products are everywhere, and they all make the same claim – lose those unwanted pounds fast.

But if you just scratch the surface, there are too many choices to make sense of it all.  What’s the best weight loss product or regimen?

Which Products Really Take the Weight Off?

In an age when you can get so much information from so many sources, it’s difficult to make a confident decision about what product to invest in.  While some products may have some effect on you, there are some products you can absolutely be certain do not work.  Avoid weight-loss gimmicks such as:

- appetite suppressing eyeglasses that claim a colored lens reduces the desire to eat; there is nothing to support this claim;

- electrical stimulators that claim to promote weight loss or enhance muscle tone; these have actually been taken off the market by the FDA, citing potential injury from misuse;

- hunger-control earrings, that claim to use acupuncture points to suppress appetite; this claim is not substantiated by any facts whatsoever.

Aside form gimmicks, you can use your common sense and filter out products that use sensational or outrageous language in their advertisements and commercials, such as claims of ancient remedies, miracle pills, magic bullets, fat or starch blockers or “magic” weight loss products.

Consult a Doctor

Weight loss products on the market are numerous, with more coming out every month.  Many are herbal in nature and make claims that their natural components promote weight loss or have other health benefits.

Most of these claims are entirely unfounded, but it’s important to consult a physician before taking any dietary supplement as part of a weight-loss regimen.

Sensible Choices

When you ignore the hype, the loud advertising and the outrageous claims, real weight loss comes down to making the right choices.  Eat smaller portions of food, keep a sensible diet, include more variety in your choices, and as important as anything you put into your body is what you do with your body: exercise.

Any lasting weight loss must include a regular routine of simple exercise.

Losing those extra pounds will not be effortless, but it can be a simple process.

Avoiding the quick-fix claims and complicated routines is the first step.  Consult with your doctor or a health professional.  Exercise several times a week.  Limit your portions and reduce the intake of high-fat foods like butter, read meat, cakes, and cheese.

Make the right choices and make them part of your life.
